Founded in 2012, Canvasback is following the model established by parent winery, Duckhorn Vineyards, decades ago.
Canvasback is creating wines that are as complex as they are captivating from the slopes of Red Mountain in Washington State.
Red Mountain is the smallest AVA in Washington State, and has established itself as a premiere growing region, producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignons. In addition to working with the appellations most esteemed vineyards and growers, Canvasback planted 18-acre Longwinds Estate Vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in 2014.
In 2017, Canvasback received the coveted Wine & Spirits, “Winery to Watch” title, receiving praise for “bringing contour and finesse to the wine”. Washington State is the new frontier for luxury Cabernet Sauvignon in the new world, producing highly sought-after wines.
Washington native and Red Mountain expert, Brian Rudin, works alongside famed vineyard manager Dick Boushey to oversee our Longwinds Estate Vineyard and manage our Canvasback winemaking program. Brian’s vineyard-focused approach to winemaking plays a key role in Canvasback’s bold, beautifully structured style.
